The Phoenician.jpgThe Phoenician is rolling out the red . . . ah, make that pink carpet for LGBT travelers with its Pride in the Desert package designed especially for this discerning and well-traveled audience.

Available through Dec. 31, the package includes accommodations, daily breakfast for two, rewards book with $750 in savings at nearby retail centers like Scottsdale Fashion Square and Kierland Commons, and a copy of A Phoenician Pride Guide , a directory of local establishments, businesses and services recognized for their commitment to the LGBT public. The rate starts at $475 per night, and reservations can be made by calling (866) 716-8136 and ask for rate plan PRIDE.

Located in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the foot of the stunning Camelback Mountain, The Phoenician is a AAA Five Diamond resort. It is situated on 250 breathtaking acres, offers 10 unique restaurants and lounges, a multi-million dollar art collection, and a world-class spa. In addition, there are a 27-hole golf course and a tennis complex. President Obama and his family stayed at the hotel in Aug. 2009.

The Phoenician is part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide's Luxury Collection. Starwood received a perfect 100 rating in the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index 2011.

LGBT specific travel information for Scottsdale is available here.

Note: I stayed at The Phoenician in Feb. 2011, and I loved it.
