The local chapter of Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) kicks off a discussion series, Brothers and Sisters Under the Rainbow, at 7 p.m., on Thursday, April 24.

The first panel is titled ''The Complexity of Being Black, Gay and American,'' and will be moderated by Jay Morrow, in Building B on the campus of the University of the District of Columbia, 4200 Connecticut Ave. NW.

''To be a minority in America is difficult, but add to it the historical cultural tensions, the imbalance of power and wealth and the complexity of sexuality and it will broaden the discussion about the complexity of being black and gay,'' states a press release on behalf of Metro DC PFLAG. ''This five part panel series will address some of the questions and issues that affect the black gay community in the nation's capitol and elsewhere.''
