The popular Pride of Pets ''fun dog show,'' traditionally held late-June in Dupont Circle, has been canceled this year due to a scheduling conflict, the event's organizer has told Metro Weekly via email.
Chip Wells of Pets-DC, the beneficiary and organizer of the fundraiser, promises that Pride of Pets will return in 2013, with the same general format offering awards in several categories, but adding three more. In 2011, the 18th annual Pride of Pets, there were 15 categories, ranging from ''Best Tail Wagging'' to ''People's Choice Best of Show.''
Pets-DC is an organization for D.C.-area pet owners living with HIV/AIDS or other disabling conditions. The organization provides pet food, veterinary care, grooming and adoption services free of charge to clients.
Wells, currently out of the country, had no further details to offer regarding the cancellation.
