Dear John -- Channing Tatum stars in this Lasse Hallström film – based on Nicholas Sparks’s novel – as a soldier separated from his love (Amanda Seyfried) by an increasingly dangerous war. The two keep in touch mostly through letters, but their correspondence triggers unforeseen fateful consequences. Not to be glib, but really, who didn’t see that coming? Visit fandango.com.

From Paris With Love -- John Travolta stars in this Pierre Morel action flick as a wisecracking, fast-shooting, high-ranking U.S. intelligence agent, sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack. Ah, yes, what some might call a hero. But we’re partial to dreamy co-star Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who plays a low-ranking operative in France’s U.S. Embassy. The Last Station -- Helen Mirren stars as Countess Sofya, wife of the great Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy (Christopher Plummer). Sofya’s world is turned upside down on account of Tolstoy’s new religion, which finds him renouncing his noble title, his property and even his family in favor of poverty, vegetarianism and celibacy. Meanwhile, Tolstoy’s assistant Valentin (James McAvoy) falls for Marsha (Kerry Condon), a free-thinking new adherent to Tolstoy’s religion. A tale of two loves – plus a turn by Paul Giamatti, who naturally complicates things further. Opens Friday, Feb. 5. Landmark’s E Street Cinema, 555 11th St. NW.
