D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray (D) spoke at the Capital Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce's (CAGLCC) Annual Awards dinner on Friday, April 8, at the Park Hyatt Hotel. Highlighting the accomplishments of the city's LGBT community — and paying special recognition to gay rights pioneer Frank Kameny, also in attendance — Gray issued a call for achieving full equality for the LGBT community and for the entire city, bringing attention to District residents' lack of representation on Capitol Hill.

Michael Kahn, the artistic director of the Shakespeare Theatre Company, was honored with the Capital Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce's (CAGLCC) Excellence in Business Award at the organization's annual dinner on Friday, April 8, at the Park Hyatt Hotel. Kahn spoke about the importance of business to art, and vice-versa, and how the two are not mutually exclusive, and even treated the crowd an "11 o'clock surprise."
