With a vote on a gay marriage amendment looming, and other GLBT issues remaining at the fore of Virginia politics, The Pink Party this Labor Day weekend in Richmond will focus on growing support for gay issues in the state.
Presented by the Infinite Love Project, the Pink Party will be a social and entertainment event, featuring DJ Tony Fernandez and a mini-cabaret at The Canal Club, 1545 E. Cary Street in Richmond.
Felicia Howell, artistic director of the project and a Virginia native, said she hopes to bring her experience in the entertainment industries in New York and Los Angeles to bear on making Virginia an inclusive place for gays and lesbians.
”I wanted to come home to Richmond and began a new history in unity as one community, and to tell the commonwealth we will not be denied,” Howell said in her announcement.
The Pink Party runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tickets are $17.50 in advance (available at Lambda Rising, 1625 Connecticut Ave. NW) or $25 at the door. For more information visit www.infiniteloveproject.com.
