Transgender Assault

Juvenile males involved in altercation with TG female in Northwest DC

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, a group of young men attacked a transgender woman, throwing her through a window, according to a brief report posted on the WRC-TV4 NBC Web site the following day.

Lt. Alberto Jova of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit was able to confirm by Sept. 18 that the incident involved an unidentified, juvenile, transgender female involved in an altercation with a group of juvenile men, on the 800 block of Seventh Street NW, and that the victim fell through a glass window with one of her assailants. As all involved are juveniles, no names have been released.

Jova says three juveniles were stopped, and one was identified and arrested. He could not say, however, whether this case will be handled as a hate crime.
