The Metropolitan Community Church of Northern Virginia (MCC-NOVA), which promotes an open and inclusive ”loving message” for GLBT people, welcomed its newest reverend earlier this month. Rev. Tim Agar joins the Virginia-based has relocated from the San Francisco Bay area to metropolitan Washington to serve as MCC-NOVA’s associate pastor. His service with the church began Capital Pride weekend, June 14.
Agar earned his master’s degree in divinity from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, Calif., along with a certificate in sexuality and religion from the City University of New York’s Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies. He was ordained on May 24 at the Peninsula Metropolitan Community Church in San Mateo, Calif.
MCC-NOVA reports that Agar will focus on community outreach, service and congregational care and nurture.
