Mormon leader calls for increased anti-gay politics; Sen. Reid supports gays, not ”marriage”

LDS apostle Dallin H. Oaks calling out to Mormons to continue the fight against gay marriage. The Mormon Church was deeply involved along with other religious groups in passing Proposition 8, the California measure that repealed legalized same-sex marriage. Many see Oaks’ statement as a call for active political involvement which they say is contrary to “core doctrines” of the Latter-day Saints. (Salt Lake Tribune)

Jon Summers, spokesman for US Senator Harry Reid (D-UT) responding to inquiries about a meeting the Senator had with National Equality March organizers. Senator Reid is a Mormon and reportedly signed a letter of support for last weekend’s March.(Salt Lake Tribune)
