Gay porn producer, William Higgins, and the realities of the Czech gay-for-pay sex industry [video]

”If they are willing to do it with a guy, they’ll do it with any guy. It’s a job… We have one gay guy who always dictates who he’s going to do it with. I’d much rather work with straight guys…. Czechs would do it anyway. [They are entrepreneurial] always looking to make an extra buck.”

William Higgins speaking with reporter Iva Skoch for Global Post.

Skoch paints a rather unflattering portrait of the gay video industry coming out of the Czech city of Prague. Here Higgins explains why he uses ”more masculine” heterosexual men and also why he thinks Czech men are more willing and more available than in other countries. This report says Higgins, an Oklahoman, produces pornography for 1/3 the cost that it would in the United States.

In one instance, about $168 is paid to a new actor. This article also discusses the use of Viagra among these very young men, and their preference of pills over the use of an injection of Caverject, a substance which produces an immediate erection. Higgins says he’s seeing a surge of interest by male “models,” possibly due to the economy there. Some involved report that the internet has cheapened the amount of money paid to performers; one veteran saying he saw some star models drop out of school, but later ended up with nothing since they’re too old for the industry. Many become “escorts” or “hustlers.”

Skoch reports that promises are made to performers that sales of their material won’t be made in the Czech Republic, but that it’s not possible to maintain their separate identities. The report also touches on the demand for condom-free “bareback” videos, something that the studios of Bel Ami and Higgins say they don’t engage in, but others do despite the risk of HIV & AIDS.

According to this report ”some 50 small and mid-size gay porn productions” operate in the Czech Republic. Higgins concludes that, eventually, the availability of free porn on the internet will put many of the studios out of business and he has no answer for that phenomenon. (GlobalPost)
