Lady Gaga‘s latest video, ”Alejandro” made it’s full debut today — challenging the Catholic Church with crucifixes, rosary beads, and nun-like fetish wear, with a lot of beefcake on display. Gaga earlier said that this video would be ”a celebration and an admiration of gay love” adding that she was envious of the ability of gays to be together; and she promised that the video would be about gay guys being inaccessible to her. Last week, she told Larry King the video contains a homoerotic military theme. Most of the men in the video dance with each other half dressed, but are fashioned with rather un-sexy, black, bowl-style haircuts — somewhat reminiscent of Moe from The Three Stooges (if you put him in leather and heels). Gaga herself again appears nearly nude in much of the video which is reported to have been directed by fashion photographer Steven Klein. Last year, Klein shot Madonna’s photos for W. MTV notes that the video seems very much like a tribute to Madonna and her ”Vogue” video. This comparison seems most obvious where Gaga dances not in an cone-like bullet bra, but in a bra outfitted with long-barreled machine guns. (MTV)
