”CBS would write whatever I wanted. I’ve been acting my whole life, and I’ve never really discussed my personal life. This is a talk show. So obviously, I’m going to be discussing my life more, and I felt that the first place I wanted to do it wasn’t in a CBS press release.”
Actress Sara Gilbert of “Rosanne” fame discussing her newly public identity as an out lesbian. Some questions erupted earlier this month when a CBS press release came out about her new daytime chat show, “The Talk.” It listed the names of all the other female co-hosts’ husbands, but did not mention Gilbert’s female partner. The show appears to be a direct competitor to the very successful, and often controversial ABC TV show, “The View.” Gilbert will join a panel that is to include “Big Brother” host Julie Chen, actress Leah Remini, actress Holly Robinson Peete, actress Marissa Jaret Winokur, and “America’s Got Talent” judge Sharon Osbourne. It’s reported that Remini says she will not be discussing her controverisal religion, Scientology. (Forbes) (Entertainment Weekly) (NPR)
