”We are Isiah and Joshua Thomas. We posed for the NOH8 Campaign because we believe that all hate and discrimination is wrong. It is time for full equality and equal rights for everyone, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, or gender.”
Taken from the NOH8 campaign, an online photographic exhibit featuring people who have tape over their mouths and the logo for NOH8 on their cheek. According to the site, photographer Adam Bouska has collected over 4,500 photos of people who have volunteered to be the face of people opposed to Proposition 8 (California’s voter-approved referendum that banned same-sex marriage). While the site features many LGBT people, progressive celebrities and artists, the Isaiah Thomas and Joshuah Thomas photos are making headlines — possibly for appealing to a demographic that is not often included in gay rights outreach campaigns. A few others of similar note: Cindy McCain (wife of Republican Senator John McCain), Russel Simmons (the “hip hop mogul”), Isaiah Washington (a ”Grey’s Anatomy” actor allegedly dismissed after a name-calling incident with his fellow gay actor TR Knight).
