”GOProud is about infiltration of the conservative movement and dividing it from within with twisted and dangerous ideas way out of the mainstream of American public opinion. Ann Coulter is, I’m afraid, validating this effort for money. I support her speaking to people with whom she disagrees on college campuses. That’s a good idea. I do it, too. But if you see the way GOProud is exploiting its coup in getting Ann Coulter to speak to its HOMOCON event, you begin to understand what a mistake this is for a conservative icon like Coulter.”
Joseph Farah as quoted by his own socially conservative blog, WorldNetDaily. His site regularly features religiously-based complaints about gay rights, along with political attacks on President Barack Obama and other topics of derision for “the angry right.” According to this blog post, Ann Coulter (a political commentator who is popular with conservatives) was scheduled to be a speaker at an event organized by Farah. But, after Coulter also accepted another speaking engagment for a gay Republican group, she was cut from the line up. She told Farah that she speaks in front of all kinds of groups, but that does not mean she endorses them. (WND)
”his group hadn’t come up for the money to book me for a speech, anyway, so he’s not canceling me from anything. also, FYI; my fellow evangelicals — and I know lots and lots of ‘em — – all think it’s great that I’m doing this. (of course, they know I’m not changing my mind on gay marriage even though I like gays.) this is total b.s. for PUBLICITY by a publicity whore. Attack ann coulter, get publicity. liberals figured that out a long time ago, so he’s a little late to the party.”
Part of an e-mail from socially conservative author and commentator Ann Coulter regarding the news that she has been disinvited as a speaker for a WorldNetDaily conference. She also agreed to appear at HomoCon, an event sponsored by a gay Republican group, which WND says it opposes. (DailyCaller.com)
In the past Coulter has called Bill Clinton a “latent homosexual;” joked that Al Gore was a “total fag;” called John Edwards a “faggot;” sided with anti-gay marriage activist Carrie Prejean; mocked Kevin Jennings, an openly gay Obama appointee; and promoted a conservative Christian declaration that calls gays and their relationships immoral and called for Christians to stand against “the endless push for gay marriage.” Coulter also said once at CPAC that she doesn’t want gays to be discriminated against — she’s just against gay marriage.
