Another “Lady Gay Gay” t-shirt controvery in Iowa [video]

“Not knowing if it was an item that was in support of, or if it was actually derogatory…. if anything, this also is a learning experience for us.”
Kim Huckstadt, Superintendent for the Maquoket School District in Iowa. He was remarking on camera about an “I heart Lady Gay Gay” t-shirt controversy. School supervisors told Ali Lai to change his shirt (or turn it inside out) because they felt it was inappropriate. Lai wore the shirt again after the school’s action became known, and he says administrators did not make him remove the it. The shirt’s message is apparent reference to singer Lady Gaga and her support of gay rights. (KCRG)
Another student was sent home in April in Tennessee for wearing the same t-shirt.
