”That’s absolutely inaccurate — it’s completely false. I did not hallucinate phone calls to counselors and assistant principals. We have no reason to make this up. … It’s like they’re calling us liars…. We want justice. The people here need to be held responsible and to be stopped. It did happen. There are witnesses everywhere…. I hope [you bullies are] happy with what you’ve done. I hope you got what you wanted and you’re just real satisfied with yourself.”

Amy Truong, mother of Asher Brown, a 13-year-old Texas boy who shot himself last Thursday with a pistol after enduring repeated bullying over several years.

The Houston Chronicle reports that boys would perform “mock gay acts” on Asher in Phys-Ed class. His parents say they tried to reach school officials who now claim that no one contacted them.

His father, David Truong, says that Asher told him that he was gay on the morning of his death. The day before, a student allegedly tripped Asher down some stairs, then kicked him and his books. (Houston Chronicle)
