After Sept. 11, 2001, politics hit a point when it become en vogue to make political references to “terrorizing” or “hijacking” some group or issue or agenda.
It was tasteless — and unnecessary. No matter how important the issue was, it trivialized it to compare it to something that is completely unlike it — like terrorism. It also demeaned those who were subject to the terrorism that the references were intended to conjure up.
When it happens, even today, it’s still tasteless.
What’s more tasteless — and in its way, less necessary — is the fact that LGBT groups apparently have decided that “bullying” is the new “terrorism.”
First, in an alert today from Servicemembers Legal Defense Network:
Sen. McCain wants repeal language stripped out of the defense bill so he is not forced to take an on-the-record vote against funding the troops, and he wants the Democrats to give in to his outrageous demands.
We have to stand up against this bullying.
Then, in an alert tonight from the Human Rights Campaign:
Bullying judges?
NOM targeted three independent Iowa justices to send a message:
Follow our radical anti-gay agenda – or else.
The result of bullying — as we all know too well — is not lost bills or lost judicial seats.
Just stop it, folks.
