The last word from Mova Lounge, previously Halo, at 1435 P St. NW, was owner Babak Movahedi filing for bankruptcy protection in mid-October. A new announcement came this week, however, with a decidedly more upbeat sentiment: The P Street venue is closing with a bang, offering ”Mova’s Movin’ Party Weekend” starting on Friday, Dec. 17.
Manager Justin Croft says most of the revelry will be that Friday, with the Mega Mink Blow Out Party, hosted by Timur Tugberk, but the bittersweet blast will continue through the weekend with drink specials, ”shot boys” and other party favors.
The closing comes, however, with no word about where Mova might be moving. Movahedi says he can’t offer any details about the move till he’s completed the bankruptcy process, though he says that may be as soon as Dec. 10.
Further, Roy Kaufmann, an attorney for Harlet Enterprises, the entity from which Mova rented the space on P Street and which filed a lawsuit against Mova parent company Logan Circle Spectrum LLC earlier this year, says bankruptcy negotiations between his client and Logan Circle Spectrum are ongoing and that he’s anticipating a satisfactory outcome.
