DAY 1
Stepping off the plane at Las Vegas’ McCarran International airport you are immediately greeted by Sin City’s famed one-armed bandits. This city has perfected the art of separating you from your money and having you say thank you (at least most of the time) afterwards.
According to Community Marketing Inc., a research marketing firm specializing in LGBT travel, Las Vegas ranks as the third most popular domestic destination for US gay travelers.
It had been a few years since my last visit to Las Vegas but within a matter of minutes of my arrival, I remembered why I had wanted to return and why so many of the fellow LGBT travelers agree. Las Vegas is fun, and there is nothing cliche about calling this city an adult playground.
For the first night of my trip, I stayed at the Encore, part of Wynn Resorts, which has been very aggressive in its LGBT marketing efforts. And I’ll admit I drank the Kool-Aid. I loved everything about this property. My accommodations were excellent, I had a fantastic meal and it’s signature Le Reve show had me on the edge of my seat with excitment (and to get a better view of the performers’ amazing bodies).
Additional details about Encore and its sister-property Wynn Las Vegas, including information about their upcoming Flaunt weekend, April 21 to 24, 2011, is available at www.WynnPride.com.
