NBA player adds voice to campaign for gay marriage in New York

Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, in a new video produced by the Human Rights Campaign supporting the push for marriage equality in New York state. Nash’s video — which HRC’s Fred Sainz says the NBA player has been considering for months — comes on the heels of a flurry of pro-gay activity in professional sports. Suns CEO Rick Welts came out this month, pro hockey player Sean Avery made a video for the New York equality effort, and Charles Barkley told it straight about the existence of gay pro athletes. Also, recently retired pro rugby star and straight ally Ben Cohen — interviewed recently by Metro Weekly — is currently touring the U.S. in support of his anti-bullying organization, StandUp. (ESPN)
