Keegan’s Spelling Bee
In the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, six young people in the throes of puberty learn that winning isn’t everything and losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. The Tony-winning musical from Rachel Sheinkin and William Finn is never a static piece, as the script’s topical references are altered at least twice weekly to remain relevant and fresh, and four audience volunteers are selected to participate at each show. Christina A. Coakley directs Keegan Theatre’s production. Opens tonight, Saturday, June 4, at 8 p.m. An adults-only “Dirty Bee” is set for Saturday, June 25, at 11 p.m. To July 3.
