Michigan man says he was attacked for wearing gay pride t-shirt

”They threw me up against the wall and called me a faggot, told me, ‘You don’t deserve to live. You don’t belong on the face of the earth.”’

David Battjes, a gay man from Grand Rapids, MI who says two men assaulted him as he was leaving an Equality Michigan meeting. (WOOD-TV)

WMMT reports that Battjes was wearing a West Michigan Pride shirt.

He told Between the Lines News that he was able to break free after being “slugged,” and the men called him additional anti-gay insults as ran away.
