Tea Party’s Christine O’Donnell suffers disastrous interview over gay rights with Piers Morgan [video]
Christine O’Donnell called Piers Morgan rude and walked off of his talk show looking confused and distraught.
O’Donnell is a darling of the Tea Party who failed in her bid to become a U.S. Senator from Delaware last year. She did, however, become enormously famous for espousing rather bizarre, far right ideology. Her organization SALT is driven in part by oppressive views on homosexuality, abortion and other issues typically espoused by Christian conservatives.
Morgan’s interview included questions about her views on gay marriage and Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell because, he says, she includes them in her new book, Troublemaker. In yet another disastrous PR move, she complained:
“You’re borderline being a little bit rude, you know. I obviously want to talk about issues that I talk about in the book…. I talk about my religious beliefs [in the book], yeah…. What relevance is [gay marriage] now? Is there a piece of legislation? I mean, I shouldn’t be voting on anything…. I don’t think it’s relevant. It’s not a topic I choose to embrace. It’s not one I’m championing now. I’ve been there, done that, gone down that road…. I’m not being weird, you’re being a little rude…. Don’t you think, as a host, if I say ‘This is what I want to talk about,’ that’s what we should address?”
Morgan tweeted about the issue, joking:
“Do you think Christine O’Donnell is going to put a witch’s curse on me now?”
