GALA Hispanic Theatre presents ¡Ay, Carmela!, about a vaudeville comedy duo who have fallen into the hands of Franco’s fascist troops during the Spanish Civil War and are forced to perform their show. José Sanchis Sinisterra’s play is a heartbreaking portrayal of love and loss and a poignant testimony to the inhumanity of war. To Oct. 9. GALA Theatre at Tivoli Square, 3333 14th St. NW.
