From Shuffle to Show Boat: Prelude to the American Musical explores how the musical came to be, drawing from vaudeville, operetta, blues and Tin Pan Alley. KenYatta Rogers directs this cabaret-style show, written by Sybil Roberts and choreographed by Angelisa Gillyard. Part of the Intersections: A New America Arts Festival at the Atlas. A mix of music from 1920s black musicals, operetta tunes, and blues, jazz and Tin Pan Alley selections.
