Pink Lady — Apple updates iOS 6 emoji with gay and lesbian icons

The ubiquitous emoji icons in Apple’s mobile operating system have been given a rainbow-themed update in iOS 6, according to Gizmodo. Previously only available to heterosexual couples, the relationship-related icons depicted one couple holding hands and another couple with a son. Now included alongside are two men holding hands, and two women doing the same. Gizmodo raised an interesting question, though — why are there no facial expressions on the gay and lesbian couples? Aside from that, it’s good to see Apple embracing its queer following with this update. For those of you who avidly use emoji, the update will land with iOS 6 in the fall, more info on which can be found here.
