Jay Brannan isn’t the most charming of gay folk-pop singers, and he can be testy live. But he’s definitely got the looks and more importantly the goods, with a sweet, sensitive, Paul Simon-esque tenor and hands that can play a mean acoustic guitar. And his songs, including those on this year’s Rob Me Blind, are as catchy and melodious as they are smart and complex. Saturday, July 21, at 7 p.m. U Street Music Hall, 1115A U St. NW. Tickets are $20. Call 202-588-1880 or visit ustreetmusichall.com.
