Virginia’s American Century Theater offers a production of the rarely staged experimental play, Marathon ’33, by June Havoc, the real life “Baby June” from the musical Gypsy. The show re-creates Havoc’s harrowing years as a performer in Depression-era dance marathons, said to be grueling precursors to today’s reality show competitions. Jack Marshall directs a large, 30-person cast, with Jennifer Richter as Havoc, while Thomas Fuller directs an on-stage six-piece band. To Aug. 25. American Century Theater — Gunston Theater II, 2700 South Lang St. Arlington. Tickets are $30 to $35. Call 703-998-4555 or visit americancentury.org.
