Danielle Moodie-Mills Named 2012 Honoree of The Root 100

D.C. lesbian Danielle Moodie-Mills, speaking in a statement released today announcing her spot on 2012’s The Root 100, a list of “black achievers and influencers between the ages of 25 and 45 [who] represent the ideals of The Root,” a division of the Washington Post Co. that bills itself as the leading source of online news and commentary from an African-American perspective. Moodie-Mills is the director of education advocacy at the National Wildlife Federation, a co-founder of the FIRE (Fighting Injustice to Reach Equality) Initiative at the Center for American Progress and a board member of SMYAL (Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League). Among others named to The Root 100 were MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry, and former NFL player Wade Davis.
