Spooktacular gay travel for Halloween 2012
Halloween is a gay High Holy Day. LGBT travels have a plethora of opportunities to don costumes, seek a scare and party like a rock star zombie. Here are Elsewhere’s 2012 Halloween travel picks:
- Las Vegas – Sin City was practically made for Halloween. It is an excuse for every over the top bar, nightclub and entertainment to be even more over the top. For example, Vegas’ downtown Fremont Street area offers ton of themed entertainment and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino puts on its annual Fetish & Fantasy Halloween Ball (Oct. 27).
- Philadelphia – The creepy Eastern State Penitentiary is host to one of the best haunted houses in world. Visitors to the City of Brotherly Love can also make plans to attend the annual Henri David Ball, a tradition for more than 40 years.
- Key West – A mix of mardi gras and Halloween, Key West’s Fantasy Fest (Oct. 19 to 28) is nearly two weeks of parties, parades and profligacy. The Headdress Ball (Oct. 23) is the premiere gay event of the festival.
- Dallas – As the saying goes, everything is big in Texas, and its annual gay Halloween celebration is no exception. Thousands of costume clad participants are expected to gather during The Street Party (Oct. 27), held in Dallas’ gay-friendly Oak Lawn neighborhood
