Travel show provides lots of opportunities to escape
The Travel and Adventure Show will be held at the Washington Convention Center, on Sat., March 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sun., March 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m..
Many gay-friendly destinations will be part of the show to provide information, special deals, giveaways and hands-on experiences.
Guest speakers will include travel icon Arthur Frommer, best-selling travel writer and creator of the Frommer’s series of travel guides; Andrew Zimmern, host of Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern and Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World; Public television stalwart Rick Steves, travel writer and host of Rick Steves Europe and Travel with Rick Steves, Europe through the Back Door.
Chef Rahman “Rock” Harper will host the Culinary Stage both Saturday and Sunday, leading attendees through a combination of discussions and cooking demos, celebrating gastronomy. Additionally, guests of all ages will have the opportunity take scuba lessons in a heated pool, or check their dexterity on a rock climbing wall as they plan the vacation of their lives.
New this year, SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens will each offer interactive experiences with animal ambassadors.
One-day tickets are $10 when purchased online (using promo code DCPR) or $15 at the door; children 16–and-under are free with a paid adult.
