USAID announces new LGBT partnership

“This partnership leverages the financial resources and skills of each partner to further inclusive development and increase respect for the human rights of LGBT people around the world. It can be a real game-changer in the advancement of the LGBT human rights.”

Claire Lucas, senior advisor for public-private partnerships in the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Office of Innovation and Development Alliances, from today’s release announcing a new partnership to promote foreign assistance for LGBT equality in developing countries/emerging markets. The other members of this new partnership are the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Astrea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute, the Williams Institute, and Olivia Companies. The partnership will first focus its efforts on Ecuador, Guatemala and Honduras. (USAID)
