The Atlas Presents Gay Camber-Pop Group Tonight

Screen Shot 2013-11-03 at 12.31.40 PM.pngThe Atlas presents a multimedia concert by The Irrepressibles, an intriguing 10-piece chamber-pop band from London led by gay singer-composer Jamie McDermott. The strings-oriented group tours in support of new album Nude. McDermott’s quirky, quavering voice and the band’s theatrical music may remind you of Antony and the Johnsons or even Sigur Ros, and the band’s mission is billed as “breaking boundaries and being honest about being gay in music.” Who can’t get behind that?

Tonight, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. Atlas Performing Arts Center, 1333 H St. NE. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $18 at the door. Call 202-399-7993 or visit atlasarts.org.
