Capitalizing on the nostalgia surrounding the 50th anniversary of The Beatles coming to America, Apple has quietly launched a dedicated channel for the group on its Apple TV streaming platform. It will air the entirety of the band’s appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show way back in 1964, over-excited high-pitched fans and all.
Of course, this is Apple, so the 14 minute video is being subsidized with links to purchase the entirety of The Beatles’ catalog on iTunes, should you feel a sudden urge to revisit Sgt. Pepper or Abbey Road. The fruity company famously scored something of a musical coup when Steve Jobs was finally able to bring The Beatles to his digital music store in 2010 — which proved to be a runaway success, with the band’s music holding a quarter of the top 200 songs on iTunes at one point.
Apple states that the concert footage will only be available on Apple TV for a limited time, so if you haven’t already jumped in and started screaming with excitement at those fresh-faced, mop-haired Brits, now’s the time.
Incidentally, our music aficionado Chris Gerard recently ranked all 13 of The Beatles studio albums, from worst to first, so feel free to head over and see whether or not you agree with his rankings.
