Vegan Diet — This isn’t just one food, but an entire diet. If you’re vegan, don’t try to push your pet to be one, too, as it could potentially kill them. Unlike humans, cats require meat to survive. They are obligate carnivores and can only process essential nutrients from animal protein. While some may claim to have a healthy, vegan cat, it quite literally goes against their pet’s physiology and is not recommended. Dogs can potentially live vegan lifestyles, but again it carries its own risks and their diet must be carefully monitored. You may object to eating meat – but that doesn’t apply to your pet. If they were wild, they’d be hunting and killing with the best of them.
What your pet consumes can have a huge impact on their overall health and wellbeing. Much like humans, give your dog and cat a healthy, well-balanced diet and let them get regular exercise – whether taking them for a walk or playing with them in the house. Stick to pet-friendly foods, avoid letting them snack on your leftovers, and both you and your pet will be happy for many years to come.
