— A question posed by McClatchy-Marist in a poll to 1035 participants. Of those questioned who identified as Republicans, 60 percent stated they would be “very upset” or somewhat upset if their child came out to them, in contrast to just 28 percent of those identifying as Democrats. Fifty-two percent of Democrats questioned would have no issue with their child coming out to them, with 25 percent of Republicans choosing “not upset at all.”
