Unrepentant: Tori Amos at DAR on Saturday

Tori Amos
Tori Amos

In her 22-year music career, the Maryland-reared Tori Amos has never scored a U.S. Top 40 hit. Yet she has persevered as a largely independent singer-songwriter in large measure because her legion of fans has remained loyal — at least tolerating Amos’s rebellious explorations into difficult subject matter and especially complex musical genres as far removed from her original style of piano-driven pop/rock as orchestral compositions and even musical theater. With this year’s Unrepentant Geraldines, though, Amos has in many ways returned to her pop/rock roots. As a result, don’t be surprised if the always enthusiastic hometown crowd she draws to Constitution Hall is just a tad more spirited, as well. Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m. D.A.R. Constitution Hall, 1776 D St. NW. Tickets are $47.50. Call 202-628-1776 or click here.
