The 5 Best Foods at the MetroCooking DC Show

It was a gluten-free, gutter-cleaning, egg-breaking, alcohol-fueled kind of day

Goulibeur

1. Goulibeur Shortbread

A product of France, imported exclusively by the locally-based The Breton Gourmet, this lush, rich, buttery shortbread was far and away the best product we ate at the show. It’s comprised of the five most glorious ingredients ever to grace the planet — flour, butter, sugar, eggs and sea salt (almonds are added later as an optional topping). There are no colorings, no preservatives, no GMO products, and it’s packed with — yes! — gluten. If this is what leaving a gluten-free lifestyle behind tastes like, then by all means, count us in. We’re more-than-ready to travel a free-of-gluten-free path, happily clogging our arteries along the way. After all, food always comes down to one thing — a matter of taste.
