The Latino GLBT History Project (LHP), the nonprofit organization focused on collecting, preserving and educating the public about the history, culture, heritage, arts and social contributions of LGBT Latinos in the D.C. metropolitan area, on Feb. 24 named several new members of its board of directors and steering committee.
The three new members of the nine-member board of directors, who each serve two-year terms, are: Eric Perez, a worker for The DC Center who coordinates its Center Military and Center Latino programs and an Army combat veteran; David Pazmiño, a civil rights advocate for immigrant, LGBTQ and people with disabilities communities; and Cristela Solario Ruiz, of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, a former member of the planning committee for “Mujeres en el Movimiento,” LHP’s Women’s History Month celebration.
The new members of LHP’s steering committee, which also consists of the archives and women’s steering committees, are Eddie Ayala, Eric Hernandez, Diego Sanchez, Eric Palladini, Ranald Woodman, Miriam Perez, Tamira Ramirez and Angie Ruiz.
“I am excited to expand the history, education, and cultural projects with our past and new board members,” LHP Program Coordinator Jesus Chavez said in a statement. “The board along with the steering committees will make a great team to ensure that the Latino LGBTQ identity, leadership, and culture will be well represented in metropolitan Washington, D.C. community.”
