Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, have released images of the horrific murder of a man in Syria accused of being gay.

The savage terrorist group, which controls regions in Iraq and Syria, blindfolded the man and led him into a field east of the city of Homs, Syria, where a crowd of men proceeded to throw rocks at him, Britain’s Mirror reports. They also released images of a separate murder — a man, accused of being a spy for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who was beheaded by a small group of fighters in the Syrian desert.

ISIS operates under a strict interpretation of Islam’s Shariah Law, with a penal code that punishes numerous crimes with the death penalty. In addition to homosexuality (referred to as sodomy), blasphemy, adultery, spying and apostasy all command the death penalty — carried out in a variety of manners, including stoning to death and beheading.

This latest execution is the latest in a long line of atrocious crimes by ISIS. Reports continue to reach the Western world of men, accused of sodomy, being killed by Islamic State fighters, including some being thrown from the roofs of buildings. One individual in December last year was pushed from a three-story building, surviving his fall, only to be stoned to death by a waiting crowd.

What’s more, AFP reported that ISIS often uses sodomy as a reason for executing an individual without any form of proof, as was the case with a teenager in Syria, last year.
