— Former Senator Rick Santorum (R., Pennsylvania), speaking on The Hugh Hewitt Show.
Hewitt asking Santorum if he would “attend a same-sex wedding of a loved one or a family friend or anyone you were close to?”
“No, I would not,” Santorum responded. He justified his response with his religious beliefs:Β “As a person of my faith, that would be something that would be a violation of my faith.”
Santorum, who is considering running for President, is at odds with fellow Republican Marco Rubio, who wasΒ asked the same question by Fusion.
“If it’s somebody in my life that I care for, of course I would,'” Rubio said. “Iβm not going to hurt them simply because I disagree with a choice they’ve made or because I disagree with a decision they’ve made, or whatever it may be.”
