The twins Phil and Tim Hanseroth write, sing and play with lesbian frontwoman Brandi Carlile, whose music is an intriguing country-rock blend, with additional influence from gospel and folk — think Indigo Girls blended with Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. And all the while there’s Carlile’s eminently captivating voice, supple and expressive, something like a country cousin of Sia’s.
Carlile and co. return for what’s become an annual stop at Wolf Trap, this time with special guest First Aid Kit, a Swedish sisters folk act, who sing in gorgeous two-part harmony and sound like a more haunting, modern-day Simon and Garfunkel. Also on the bill is Gill Landry, a member of the Americana-steeped band Old Crow Medicine Show.
Wednesday, June 22, at 7:30 p.m. Filene Center at Wolf Trap, 1551 Trap Road, Vienna. Tickets are $30 to $55. Call 703-255-1900 or visit wolftrap.org.
