A few years prior to this 2004 cover, Todd Franson had shot a series of Kewpie Dolls outfitted in tiny, handcrafted harnesses. The idea was just too masterful (and adorable) not to showcase, so we anchored them to a cover story by editor Randy Shulman about the toys of leather. The cover remains a favorite at Metro Weekly and has frequently appeared in anniversary issues.
