“Men should not be going to the bathroom with little girls.”

Ted Cruz, speaking with NBC’s Chuck Todd during a town hall this week. “As the father of daughters, I’m not terribly excited about men being able to go alone into a bathroom with my daughters,” Cruz said, misgendering trans women.

Cruz also showed support for North Carolina’s recently passed anti-LGBT law, which forces transgender people to use the restroom, locker room or other such facility that corresponds with their birth gender. Cruz slammed “political correctness” as the reason why there has been so much outcry over the law, known as HB 2.

“Men should not be going to the bathroom with little girls,” he said. “That is a perfectly reasonable determination for the people to make.”
