–Rev. Franklin Graham, in a Facebook post, railing against plans for a monument to the gay rights movement that will be erected opposite the Stonewall Inn in New York. Graham called the idea “unbelievable.”
The Washington Post reported that President Obama will designate a parkland area in Greenwich Village part of the National park Service. It’s expected to happen in June, to correspond with Pride month.
A former bartender told the New York Times: “Stonewall deserves to be remembered. When I started coming here, gay people were disowned by their families, so this is the place where we formed a new gay family of our own. This is the mecca; it’s where it all started.”
Graham is less than impressed, however.
“It’s no surprise that the three officials who represent the area and support the monument are all openly gay. I can’t believe how far our country has digressed,” he continued. “I hope that the president will reconsider. Flaunting sin is a dangerous move.”
