—RuPaul Charles, writing on Twitter after learning that he had been nominated for his first ever Emmy as host of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
I dedicate this Emmy nomination to outsiders everywhere. Brave souls who stick to their dreams and make the world a more colorful place.

RuPaul has hosted the Logo reality show for 8 seasons now, but only now has he — and the show — been recognized by Emmy voters, despite building the reality show into a worldwide brand and cultural touchstone in the LGBT community (and beyond). RuPaul was nominated for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program, in a category that also features two other LGBT nominees: Jane Lynch (Hollywood Game Night — Lynch has won this category for two years in a row now) and Tim Gunn (nominated with Heidi Klum for Project Runway).
RuPaul’s longtime friend and co-host Michelle Visage shared her (all-caps) thoughts via Twitter:
@RuPaul BABYYYYYYY YOU HAVE EARNED THIS!!!! I AM SO PROUD! https://t.co/1I7V2VY6C5
