The latest trailer for Elton John biopic Rocketman has dropped, and it features star Taron Egerton singing one of Elton’s biggest hits.
Just a few bars of Egerton’s take on “Your Song” feature in the new trailer, but we can expect a lot more than that in the final film.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette, producers revealed that Egerton will be doing more than just lipsyncing to the songs, and Elton John even went as far as to say, “I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone sing my songs better than Taron.”
The trailer showcases a number of moments from Elton’s life, from his first start in the music industry to his burgeoning exploration of his sexuality (though here’s hoping the latter is a little more fleshed out than the relatively tame Bohemian Rhapsody…).
Rocketman purports to show “the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture,” according to press materials.
In addition to Egerton as Elton John, it stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.
Rocketman is in theaters May 31.
