Shorts presentation, $9 at Landmark’s E Street Cinema
FIONA MACKENZIE’S 16-minute short film Cosa Bella is a lovely overview of the nexus of desire and decisiveness. Belle (Alexie Gilmore) is trying without success to escape from the spell of her college roommate and erstwhile lover Delphine (Stephanie Szostak), who manages to woo Belle back into bed by promising to ”do things” to her. But it turns out that Delphine is the one who’s under a spell when her tryst with her old friend ends up challenging her notions of what she wants in the bigger picture. The remaining short films on this program were not made available for review as of press time. — KC
