The Latino GLBT History Project (LHP) has announced the names of four women it will honor at its annual Women’s History Month celebration, “Mujeres en el Movimiento,” on Wednesday, Mar. 23.
Now in its fifth year, the event is designed to honor LBT Latinas and allies who have made significant contributions to the local LGBT and Latino communities. The event typically draws upwards of 100 women.
Being honored with this year’s Legacy Award for advocacy is Paty Hernandez, the Latino LGBT manager at Casa Ruby. The recipient of the Luminary Legacy Award is Marilyn Sulay, a filmmaker on Latino LGBT issues and an advocate on behalf of the community for the past 20 years.
