–Amy Schumer, in her latest commercial with Seth Rogen for Bud Light. The 30-second spot openly embraces gender identity and the concept that gender extends beyond just the binaries of male and female.
Rogen follows Schumer’s comment with: “Beer should have labels, not people!”
The ad, which features trans actor Ian Harvie, has been hailed by GLAAD for showing “support for the transgender community.”
“Not only does it help bring more visibility to the trans community, it also inspires other companies to do more to show their support,” said Nick Adams, GLAAD’s Director of Transgender Media. “This ad also includes out trans actor Ian Harvie, which puts a face on the trans community and gives a trans person the opportunity to appear in a high-profile spot like this one.”
“From the start of our campaign at Super Bowl, the Bud Light Party has rallied around bringing people together,” said Alex Lambrecht, vice president of Bud Light. “In our newest spot, Seth and Amy remind Americans that labels belong on beer, not people—a message Bud Light proudly supports.”
It’s not the first time the campaign has tackled an LGBT-friendly topic, either, with Bud Light also celebrating equal marriage. Watch that commercial below:
